The passionate, independent and devoted independent publisher community still succeeds in providing an alternative to the commercial publishing industry. Zines continue to be made in cellars, bedrooms, on kitchen tables and living room tables, and reach an established audience of like-minded people who stay informed of upcoming titles by word of mouth. What remains unique about this form of production is the direct link between producers and consumers, which allows for radical uncensored forms of communication that would struggle to compete a traditional economic context.
