Blank, 2008 – Begin with the Beginning
Opens May 24th, INSIDE-OUT
No. 50 Xingshikou Road, Haidian District, Beijing, China

“Blank, 2008” is the second annual installment of a show that reaches across international borders to assemble a collection of artists with infectious visual ideas. Infection is found in the artists’ abilities to invent alternative ways of seeing our immediate environments, in order to foster a public’s awareness of how the individual’s actions in everyday life affect a global life.
The premise of the show is inspired by Josef Albers’ mantra of: “Begin with the Beginning”, whose intentions were to illuminate a path of reinventing our personal ways of life to open others’ eyes to the “everyday”. It is an invigorated vision, albeit a utopian vision, but ripe with potential, imperative to our current crossroads of a global collaboration toward a global environmental health.
The exhibition’s interdisciplinary nature showcases the artist as inventor, while engendering a public awareness of environmental concerns for our shared planet.
Begin with the beginning by beginning with the individual.
